Christie "Morning Song I"  8.5 x 9 pastel

Jane Christie remarks on her latest paintings available at Saks Galleries, "I was inspired to paint my little bird friends that come every morning to perch in the woven branches of the large bush outside my breakfast nook window.
Christie "Journey Into Late Afternoon" 9 x 12 pastel

Jane says of this painting, "A drive with my sister through the countryside led to this tree lined road with the sun beginning to set.   I said, “Stop, I have to paint this.”  It was so inviting.
Christie "Red Tulips" 10 x 8 pastel

And of the still life, Jane says,"I loved capturing the light that surrounded these red tulips."

Jane Christie has been an active artist since she attended the art school at the Atlanta High Museum of Art.  At the University of Georgia, Jane was working toward a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Home Economics, but her love of painting drew her to the art curriculum instead.  Her focus shifted to attending as many art classes as her major would allow.

Today her passion for painting continues. She has studied with great masters such as Albert Handel, Doug Dawson and Kevin Wechbach.

Jane says of the children painted in this figurative, "Thomas and Caroline’s attention was captured by the ocean’s song and vastness.   The water was an exceptionally beautiful color that day.  A perfect time for me to set up my easel."

"We never know what moment will seize us and cling to us - a moment of peace and tranquility. Capturing that moment inspires us all."
