Though Sallie K. Smith paints other subjects, she prefers landscapes, and enjoys letting the work speak for her. The gentle yet vibrant images she depicts are inspired by her favorite vistas and her focus is exclusively Colorado. "Nature, to me, is so perfect in every detail; it gives me peace and, at the same time, is exhilarating. I am trying to capture that ethereal sensibility in my work, knowing that these moments of solitude are often fleeting. It is my hope that people can glimpse into my scenic travels and likewise be carried away with the work."

Andreas explaining the execution of Adams Works
Twenty rare and beautifully painted landscapes of the Rockies and California painted by C P Adams are presented in this exhibition. A few paintings remain available for acquisition.

Charles Partridge Adams moved to Denver from Massachusetts in 1876 at the age of 18. A year later he began working at the Chain and Hardy bookstore, where he received encouragement for his artistic interests from Helen Henderson Chain, who had been a pupil of the noted artist, George Inness. A three-month camping trip in the Rockies with another young artist in 1881 resulted in numerous sketches and paintings. In 1885 he traveled to the east coast, and visited the studios of George Inness and Worthington Whittredge, and the following year he visited the California studios of William Keith and Thomas Hill. Though not isolated from other artists, Adams was largely self-taught, experimenting with different styles and techniques, continuing to use those that best served his vision and his subject matter.

Visit Saks Galleries in Cherry Creek and enjoy the works of Charles Partridge Adams.
