Tommy Singer (1940-2014) Navajo Silversmith at Saks Galleries

Tommy Singer is a master Navajo silversmith.  His jewelry was highly sought after during his lifetime and has remained popular with discerning collectors of Southwest jewelry.

Singer grew up learning the craft from his father.  He became a master of the silver overlay technique seen in these belt buckles.

In the 1960s and '70s Singer developed the "chip-inlay" technique, which became popular with Navajo jewelers in the late 20th Century.  This technique uses small pieces of turquoise and coral inlaid into the silver design to create colorful works of art.
