Elisabeth Spalding made a significant mark on early Colorado art. Her work with watercolor captures the subtle beauty of nature. Spalding is one of Colorado's most notable women artists of the 19th Century.
Growing up in Denver, Spaulding was part of a group of early Colorado artists who built the foundation for art appreciation in the state.
The watercolor pictured above is published in Modern Art in Denver (1919-1960) by Elizabeth Schlosser.
